Open letter to President Biden

This open letter has been written and sent to our President, Mr. Joe Biden, regarding the lack of any response in favor of those young Iranians who are being killed by the criminal regime in Iran and for the lack of support from the US or European governments. This letter shows concern not only for the lives of young demonstrators, but also regarding criminal actions taken by the Mullahs including physically harming and executing physicians engaged in treatment of the injured.

It is my hope that we may hear something from our President.

An Open Letter

President Joe Biden
The White House
Washington, DC

October 30, 2022

Dear Mr. President:

The number of nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, or the size of an army, is not the measure of the greatness of a nation. The respect it gets is the product of its participation in world affairs and its behavior in an international or national emergency. Being a student of history and based on the events of the past three-quarters of a century, I became fully aware that our government lacks foresight in the world’s affairs. Post-WWII, our country has played a significant role in destroying any progressive governments searching for ways to improve their citizens’ lives.

For example, in merely twenty-six years, we have managed twice to destroy the government of Iran. The first time was in 1953, when Mr. Eisenhower sponsored a coup d’état on behalf of the British and wrecked its fragile democracy. Then, less than three decades later, Mr. Carter fell under the spell of big companies and the conspiracy of the major European countries (Britain, France, and Germany), shattered and dismantled the Shah’s government.

Without having an iota of knowledge or any understanding of Muslim leaders in Iran and their history, Carter sponsored Khomeini and helped him to power. By removing the Shah, a solid western ally, our president destabilized the Middle East and the Persian Gulf areas. Our government orchestrated a comprehensive demonstration against the Shah, using mostly unaware Iranian students and those who would do anything for self-benefit. I was not an admirer of the Shah. He was not an angel. However, I cannot explain his removal in any manner except a total unawareness of world political affairs on the part of the American government.

After getting the Shah out of circulation, we had to accept the burden of keeping the Persian Gulf, a major waterway, safe for all commercial endeavors. But unfortunately, we did not consider the economic effect of keeping a large military force in the area. Also, inadvertently we placed tens of thousands of our young in harm’s way.

The criminality of the present Iranian regime and what they are committing is beyond any description. The security forces shoot innocent young students for seeking a measure of freedom. They punish medical professionals for helping the injured. The ruling party in Iran is forcing the nation to adopt over fifteen-hundred-year-old rules of a backward nation, that even in those days, was way below Iran’s standard.

The governing religious leaders failed to show any measure of human integrity in their actions toward their citizens. I do not doubt that you know the magnitude of the nation’s wealth that was and is stolen every day by that regime and its cronies. Their children are supposed, on the surface, to get educated in Europe and the United States. The amount of money deposited in their names worldwide reaches billions of dollars. Yet, while these students live in luxury worldwide, children of religious minorities in Iran are prohibited from pursuing higher education.

Mr. President, I, like thousands of other Iranian Americans and many Americans of different creeds, wonder what your government is doing or planning to do, short of talk! Why is Washington keeping a silent position vis-à-vis those Mullahs committing such heinous crimes against their people?

Mr. President now is the time to show the leadership of our country by taking decisive action against the ruling criminals in Iran. Why don’t you order deportation of their offspring living sumptuously in this country at the expense of the starved Iranian children? Why does the U.S. not sponsor a bill to throw out Iran from the United Nations? Is our government hiding behind some collaboration with them? What the Mullahs of Iran are doing does not fall into managing their country’s internal affairs; they are committing a crime against humanity.

The recent comment of a member of the department of state, Mr. Robert Malley on October 23, 22, did not sit well with many Iranians. Was he indirectly telling the Mullahs that the U.S. is not supporting the young Iranians? He corrected his tweet by stating that “He did not use the words properly” or something of the sort. What a disaster! What should we believe?

Mr. President, I have lived many decades, mostly in my beloved adopted country of the United States. However, without a moment of hesitation, I have to say that I love my country of birth. I don’t like and don’t want to see either of these two countries hurt by a bad decisions made in the face of self-interest.

Please stand up for the people’s rights, stand up for preserving human dignity and show the world that the United States is truly the leader and protector of all nations seeking betterment for their people.

Thank you for your time.
